- - - - Leptons are a family of fundamental particles that are not subject to the strong nuclear force, but instead interact via the weak nuclear force and electromagnetic force. They are characterized by their half-integer spin (i.e. spin of 1/2, 3/2, etc.) and their lack of substructure, meaning they are not made up of smaller particles.
      - Leptons play a crucial role in the structure of matter and in the interactions between particles. For example, electrons are responsible for the chemical properties of atoms, while neutrinos play a key role in the process of nuclear fusion in stars.
