How can we measure if the writing as a success?
audience and purpose
Making students write better; set relevant writing tasks
use task types relevant to students
set the audience and purpose of the task
give feedback on, accuracy of language use AND if the writing is appropriate for the task itself
think of a task to write that the students might write in a real life situation
Marking/feedback, alternatives to tradtional marking
either write a letter or discuss the feedback with the students individually
underline all errors of ONE type
write correction in the margin
use the errors or the good examples from the students writing to create another task for them to solve or talk over
discuss the marking criteria with students
possible errors
spelling
layout
punctuation
language
ortography
