Mikaela Hernandez
Major functions of the reproductive system
2:Bring gametes fr male to female through sexual intercourse
3:combine genetic info through fertalization9produce zygote)
1:produce gametes; sperm(male) ova (female)
4:support developement of a fetus
Events of female horomonal cycle
Proliferate Phase:(6-14)Estrogen levels prompt generation of new stratum functionalis
Ovulation(in between follicular and luteal phase):ballooning ovary wall ruptures and expells oocyte with its corona radiata
Menstrual Phase(1-5):When ovarian hormones are at lowest levels.Gonadrotropin levels are begining to rise.Stratum functionalis detaches from uterine wall and sheds
Secretory phase(15-28):endometrium prepared for embryo to implant
Follicular phase(1-14):period of follicular vesicle growth, FSH levels drop
Luteal Phase(14-28): after ovulation ruptured follicle collapses and atrum fills with clotted blood, remaining cells form corpus luteum.Corpus luteum secretes progesterone and some estrogen
Hormones of reproductive system
Male:GnRH and FSH and LH testosteron is released and inhibin in both male and female
Female:GnRH and FSH and LH estrogen and progesterone and inhibin in both male and female

Vasectomy:cutting vas deferens, is 99.5% effective is permanent
Anatomy of male reproductive system
Testis:(main organ)produce male gonads: sperm
Ductus(vas)deferens:joins seminal vesicle to form ejaculatory duct:is secodn in the pathway of sperm realease
Ejaculatory duct:where sperm travel through to get to urethra
Urethra: where sperm and urine exit the body
epididymis:where sperm mature and begining pf where sperm travel
Prostate:produces liquid that combines with sperm to make semen
Penis:used for urination and is where sperm goes throught to exit body
Dissorder associated with reproductive system

10% due to hereditary
treatment:radiation,chemotherapy, or surgery
testicular cancer:most common cancer in men ages 15-35
sign:painless solid mass in testis
cured by removal or radiation or chemotherapy
Anatomy of female reproductive system
Female gonads:ovaries produce eggs and hormones
Uterine tubes:connect ovaries to uterus work as site of fertalization
Uterus:where fetus developes
Vagina:where sperm first enter and where fetus exits
