Hinduism
History
This religion started around 5000 years ago in the Indus valley. The Aryans invaded and the two beliefs of the tribes had mixed together.
There is also a caste system, which is based on your job title and is said to be a result of your karma in a previous life. These castes consist of the Brahmins, the Kshatriyas, the Vaishyas, and the Shudras. There was also a fifth caste known as the untouchables, but that was abolished.
Muslims invaded India in the fifth century C.E. which led to Hinduism not being the only religion being practiced in India.
Beliefs
There is not a single set of beliefs that you have to believe to be Hindu, and many people consider themselves Hindu because of their ancestry. They will most likely still adhere to Hindu practices and rituals.
They have a belief in the concept of Reincarnation, in which you are reborn after you die. The things that you did in your previous life affect where you are in the next, this is called Karma. Doing things for others and doing other well received actions are rewarded by having good Karma.
Animals are also very sacred, the most sacred being cows. This is due to the belief that people are reincarnated as animals some times, and that you shouldn't harm them like you wouldn't harm another person.
