Global Issue
Politics, power and justice
Politics
contributes greatly to displacement and some political regimes even force people to flee and become refugees. Eg: Taliban in Afghanistan.
Power
means the capacity or ability to direct or influence the behaviour of others or the course of events.
People in "power" whether that be because of access in the government, connections, provision of weapons, etc. all can result in people having to flee and thus, become refugees.
Justice
is what these refugees strive for. A fair and equal world that allows them to peacefully live, not just survive, in their home country is one of the most basic rights of the world.
There are 26 million refugees globally
Half of the world's refugees are children
85% of refugees are being hosted in developing countries
