History
The Indus Valley group and Aryans form the early components of Hinduism. Hindu society was divided into four classes; the "Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and the Shudras."
Hindu beliefs spread throughout the entire subcontinent of what is now India and also parts of Asia. Now, Hinduism is spread throughout the world.
Hinduism is one of the oldest religions in the world. It is a combination of different religions and beliefs combined.

The common beliefs between Hindus include reincarnation, karma, and Samsara. Reincarnation is the belief that we are reborn after death. Karma is a person's good and bad behavior. Samsara is the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth.
They believe that there are four stages in life. These include, a student, a householder, a forest hermit, and a wandering holy man.
There is no set belief system. Most Hindus follow their rituals and practices without actively trying to convert non-Hindus.

Worship
Some Hindu temples are in caves which represent inner peace. Others have tall towers that represent mountains. The temple is seen to be a sacred place where gods can cross between Earth and heaven.
A Hindu temple is usually dedicated to a certain god, who is represented by a statue in a special shrine room inside the temple. Hindus believe that by looking at the sacred statue (darshan) they will receive a blessing.
Hindus worship at a temple or at a special shrine in their homes. They worship individually instead of in large groups or congregations.

Early Hindus believed in one main god and many lesser gods. The main god was referred to as Brahma and the lesser gods were faces of Brahma.

Most Hindus still believe in one god, represented by many other gods and goddesses. The three most popular and important gods are Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva.

Holi is a holiday that celebrates the pranks that Krishna threw as a young man by throwing colored powder at each other.
Symbols
Many symbols of gods or goddesses have multiple arms or legs. These emphasize their special powers. Each figure also has an animal that it rides on. The symbol on the right represents the first sound heard in the world.
