Battle of Verdun
On 21 February 1916, one of the bloodiest battles of the Great War began, the Battle of Verdun (France)
It lasted nearly 10 months, and was waged following methods from the 19th century, but with the deadly weapons of the 20th century
The cost was 700,000 casualties, either killed or wounded.
