Bacterial Meningitis
There is a high level of risk of getting this infection, especially for infants that are under 1 year and also people who are ages 16 to 21.
Infection control
Students need to cover their mouth when coughing or sneezing. They need to do so into the crook of their arm.
They need to be taught how to use and properly dispose of tissues.
They need to properly wash their hands with warm water and soap.
Encephalitis
The risk of getting this is low with proper infection control. It is most common in young people, but can affect anyone.

Hepatitis B
The risk of getting Hepatitis B is very low. The most common ways to get it are being a healthcare worker, individuals diagnosed with STI, and drug users.

Wearing gloves when handling an infected student's blood
Girls need to be taught proper menstrual care
Open cuts need to be covered by a bandaid or gauze
Prevent sharing food, drinks, and personal care items to prevent saliva being shared.
Proper cleaning of utensils and equipment
Environmental surfaces should be cleaned with 1 part bleach, 10 parts water and be mixed fresh everyday
HIV and AIDS
The risks of getting HIV or AIDS is low, but preventions still need to take place because there is still a risk. In a school setting the odds of attracting AIDS is very low.

Discuss the use of condoms to decrease the risk during sex
Discuss the threat of acquiring it through illegal IV drugs
using precaution when cleaning up blood spills.
Gloves should be worn when assisting in the bandaging of bleeding wounds
