Chapter One
The portrait of Dorian Gray is considered the best work of Basil Hallward, and that he has shown
too much of himself in the painting.
Lord Henry admires Dorian's beauty and personality but is seen as a bad influence by Hallward.
Hallward sees Dorian as his art and draws, paints, and sketches from him
Chapter Two
Lord Henry Wotton goes to visit his uncle, Lord Fermor, to ask about Dorian Gray, Lord Kelso's grandson
ord Fermor tells Lord Henry about Lady Margaret Devereux, Dorian's mother, who ran away with a penniless soldier and died soon after, leaving Dorian alone.
Lord Henry goes to have lunch with his aunt, Lady Agatha, and other guests, including Dorian Gray.
During lunch, they discuss Lord Dartmoor's intention to marry an American girl, and Lord Henry makes a witty remark about Americans.
Chapter Three
It portrays the story of Sibyl, a young and beautiful actress, and her family.
Sibyl is in love with a man she calls Prince Charming, whom she met at the theater.
Her mother, Mrs Vane, advises her that they owe money to Mr Isaacs, who has loaned them fifty pounds. Sibyl ignores her mother's warnings and only thinks of her new love interest.
Meanwhile, his brother James plans to go to
Australia to earn money to get his family out of the theater.
