- - - - Season 7 Episode 12 - In this episode, Robin found out that she couldn't have children around Christmas time. Even though she was never planning on having kids, this type of news is devastating for anyone. Consequently, Ted surprised her with many Christmas lights and decorations with the AC/DC song Highway to Hell playing in the background. Ted assured Robin that he didn't need to know what was wrong, and he promised to continue making an effort to lift her mood. This shows his altruistic motives without expecting anything in return.
    - - Throughout the show, Ted shows signs of reciprocal altruism such as helping his friends move out, paying for their drinks, and so on.
    - - Ted is an overall good person who follows social responsibility norms. He volunteers, he is there for his friends to give them a shoulder to cry on, he educates others on social issues, and so on. Specifically, in Season 1 Episode 9, Ted and Robin volunteer at a kitchen during Thanksgiving to help out those in need.
  - - - Season 1 Episode 5 - In this episode, the friend group went to a nightclub because of Robin being put on the VIP list due to her job. There was a woman dancing with another man but he left and Barney swooped in and was very touchy with her, as this was just another one of his "conquests". Although this was very problematic and can be considered sexual harassment since the girl did not see Barney nor did she consent to dance with him, Ted did not intervene to help the girl and instead looked at her face just to tell Barney if she was attractive. This is diffusion of responsibility because Ted had the chance to alert the girl of his touchy friend Barney but decided to let Barney deal with the consequences as it was not his problem.
- - - - Season 4 Episode 10 - As retaliation for the men stealing Ted and his friends' usual booth, Doug the Mac Laren's bartender started a fight with them. Doug said that it was Ted and Barney who did it, because he blacked out, and consequently the boys got charged with assault charges. They threw Doug under the bus and since he is a violent individual, he wanted to fight Ted and Barney. Ted did not want to fight him but after hearing Doug saying "that's why your fiance left you" Ted punched him. This is an example of physical aggression.
    - - Season 9 Episode 17 - In this episode, Ted tells Robin that he contacted all his exes to try and find her special locket for her wedding. When he meets up with his ex Jeanette, she calls him crazy for doing so much for someone who is getting married. Ted proceeded to yell at her saying the following: “If you’re looking for the word that means caring for someone beyond all rationality and wanting them to have everything they want no matter how much it destroys you, it’s love. And when you love someone, you just don’t stop. Ever. Even when people roll their eyes, or call you crazy, even then, especially then." This is a form of nonphysical aggression as Ted is yelling at her.
