- - - - They are related to expectations about reading
      - The elements that influence are: title, subtitle, images, illustrations, paragraphs, text length, etc.
      - What do they mean?
        Readers predict what we will read by the context and elements surrounding the text
  - - - Consists of browsing and tracing the text without reading it in full to search for relevant information
  - - - Is to know how to obtain the general idea of the text and discard the details or irrelevant information
      - To make a good skimming we could:
        
        Read the titles and subtitles
        
        Read the first paragraph or the introduction
        
        Read the first sentence of each paragraph
        
        Look at highlighted or differently formatted words
        
        Look at images, tables or graphs
        
        Read the last paragraph
  - - - Consists of trying to obtain the meanings of the word or words unknown by the textual context that surrounds it
- - - - Are the activities we do before reading the text. They help students to activate what they already know and focus on the main ideas in the text
      - For example, if we go to read a text over "nutritious food", we can:
        
        Speaking over the type of text or over the autor
        
        Brainstorming
        
        What´s the nutritious food?/ You eat nutritious food?
        
        Review familiar topics for students
        
        What kind of food do you know or you like eat?
        
        Put the focus in images and titles
        
        What do we see in the picture? / Can you describe it?
        
        Perform scanning and skimming
        
        Tell stories
        
        Use images
        
        For example to compare the images or pictures of nutritious food and food whitout nutrients
        
        Songs
        
        Games
  - - - This kind of activities help students to improve their foreing language adquisition
      - A first reading of the text can be done by the teacher aloud, students silently or aloud
      - Examples of activities:
        
        Guess the meaning of words by context
        
        Find out the unknown word from the sentence structure and its function
        
        Predict the content of the text
        
        Read specific parts of the text
        
        Answer text questions while reading the text
  - - - Its objective is to reflect on the reading to improve the acquisition of the foreign language. Include integration of other skills such as writting and speaking

        Summarize
        
        Write a composition
        
        Write a different ending to the text
        
        Dramatize when the text allows
        
        If the text has dialogues, we play them
        
        Prepare role-plays and play theatres
        
        Talk about topics related to the text
