Boston keenly voted for Brexit. On June 23rd, 77% of Lincolnshire town eligable voters participated in the referendum, fully 76% of then voting to quit the EU.
At £21,000, the median average annual wage is 80% of the national average.

Many residents aren't happy with how diverse the economy is due to immigration which they feel is taking away British culture.

Social impacts
The town is becoming more divided as there are rising tensions between migrants and local residents. This has caused some locals to protest against migrants.
Migrants are benefiting companies such as agricultural companies as they are willing to do the work others find unappealing. They are also hard-working and appreciative of their employers, making them more appealing for employment.
An increasing number of migrants are struggling to find work and are left homeless and sleeping on the streets.
Envrionmental impacts
Public parks are filled with the homeless trying to find shelter.
There has been a rise in human excretion found in public places.
Economic impacts
Foreign shops tend to make more money than local shops.
There is increased competition for jobs + reduced pay as immigrants are prepared to work for less + longer hours. Employers give migrants jobs as they do not expect high wages.
East coast of England
Shops & Cafes with different names led to diverse economy (visually feels different - lost British heritage).
Some migrants send remittances to their families back in the home country, rather than spending it in the local area.
Why might the younger generation hold very different views about globalisation and migration?
May see it as a positive as it has opened up more job opportunities.
They have also grown up in a generation where there is more quality so things such as race, ethnicity and gender are more normalised.
