The Four Stages Of Salvation - Coggle Diagram
The Four Stages Of Salvation
First stage: Salvation is promised
Adam and Eve
God promised them a life of perfect harmony with Him
Adam and Eve broke a covenant with God
God guides us with the Holy Spirit
God gave us kings
God gave us patriarchs
God gave us laws
God gave us prophets
Covenant
A covenant is a two way promise
The chosen people
God's chosen people were the Israelites
God promised His people a way to live in perfect relationship with Him; all they had to do was trust Him and follow His will
God also promised His people that they would be reconciled with and saved
Second stage: Salvation is accomplished in Jesus
The Paschal Mystery :
The two aspects:
Suffering, dying, death
Rising, new hope, new life
We concentrate on the Paschal Mystery throughout Lent and Easter: Jesus' death, resurrection, and ascension through which he cleanses us of sin.
Debt
For every sin, there is a debt to God
When we try to put things right, we try to pay back the debt our sin made by causing a break in our relationship with God that we are unable to fix on our own.
Debt is something owed from one party to another
Reconciliation with God
Reconciliation begins with us acknowledging our sins and accepting responsibility for our actions and behavior.
Jesus guides us and heals us from sin
With Jesus' death and resurrection, he freed us from original sin and made our eternal life possible
Because of Jesus, there is salvation for us
Jesus is fully human and fully God
Jesus opens the gates to heaven
Third stage: Salvation continues with the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit guides the Apostles
The Holy Spirit led the Apostles in the establishment and strengthening of the Church.
God's children were offered forgiveness and the opportunity to repent through the Holy Spirit.
The apostles would preach the word of God and salvation as they were empowered by the Holy Spirit.
Pentacost
The day of Pentecost marks the completion of the Holy Trinity's revelation.
It happened when the disciples received a generous outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
The church
The church today
Popes and Bishops have now acquired the duty of Apostles.
We are led to fulfill God's will with the Church's guidance through the Popes and Bishops.
Despite our sin and temptation, the Church leads us to Jesus' forgiveness and redemption.
The beginning and evolution of the church
The Church as we know it began the day Peter preached to the people, teaching them about how the prophets and Jesus prophesied the coming of the Holy Spirit as part of God's plan for salvation.
The Apostles and disciples
The Apostles and disciples were guided by the Holy Spirit
They spread the word of God and salvation
Fourth stage: Salvation will be completed in us
The Holy Spirit continues to guide us
The Holy Spirit guides us in preparing to be restored to God's likeness.
The Holy Spirit inspires us to follow God’s word
We become our best selves with the power of the Holy Spirit; we become faith leaders in the world as we proclaim God's love and Good News.
Pilgrims
A pilgrim is someone who is travelling on a spiritual quest
All Christians are pilgrims
We are all pilgrims because we are all on a journey to return to God
Praying
Why we pray
Praise is a kind of worship that expresses respect and gratitude to God.
We give thanks to God in our everyday thoughts, words, and actions.
Praying during good and bad times
We are also called to worship God in times of trial and difficulty.
We are called to worship and thank God for always being there for us and offering us the wonderful gift of salvation in our times of need.
Jesus is the cornerstone of salvation
We would not have been redeemed from our sins if Jesus had not died.
Jesus is the key to our salvation, and he provided the Apostles and us with the necessary foundation to form the Church.
Salvation is not yet complete
We look forward to the day when all humanity will experience salvation.
We are waiting for Jesus to return.
While we wait, we hope that we will be reconciled with God
