Factors affecting population density
social/political/economic factors
economic
people are unable to earn a high paying income which overall reduces the population.
social
high crime rates
low crime rates: people will prefer to live in a area where there are low crime rates as it is a safety concern.
Locations aren't amenities: tourist rate declines and so is the population (as people aren't willing to live in a place that doesn't provide them with their needs.)
job opportunities: if there is a lot of job opportunities in a certain area, people are going to start migrating towards that area as it is easier for them to find a job
poor transportation
good transportation: access to subways, cabs, buses, & more
political

Areas with extreme temperatures e.g. hot/cold deserts makes it harder to grow crops and obtain water.
Areas with high chances of natural disasters makes it hard to live with danger.
Availability to natural resources encourages for usage of industry and manufacturing
Vegetation density provides challenges in terms of infrastructure and human inhabitation
A reliable water supply encourages high population for its usage of: drinking, washing, transportation and irrigation
climate
