Primary responsibility
: To maintain and prepare the accounts of Federal government

Duties:

-to be in charge for public moneys collected, received, held or disbursed
-to secure proper exercise of performance of their duties
Accounting Officers
to maintain proper book of accounts
to render those accounts as rquired by the act or instructed by treasury
if the accounting officers failed to perform their duties, they can be surcharged
Government Accounting Systems

Government accounting personnel are required to comply with the relevant systems and procedures in carrying out their related financial management tasks such as Financial Procedure Act 1957
