War Affects The World
A promising strategy for the allies seemed to be to attack a region in the Ottoman Empire known as the Dardanelles.
By securing the Dardanelles, the Allies believed that they could take Constantinople, defeat the Turks, and establish a supply line to Russia.
Started to make a effort to take Dardanelles in February 1915
In May, Gallipoli had turned into another bloody stalemate. Both sides dug trenches, from which they battled for the rest of the year.
In December the allies gave up the campaign and began to evacuate. Because they suffered 250,000 causalities.
1917, War shifted to high seas. Germans intensified the submarine warfare that had raged in the Atlantic Ocean. Shortly after war began.
May 7, 1915, a German submarine, or U-boat, torpedoed and sank the British passenger ship Lusitania. The attack left 1,198 people dead, including 128 U.S. citizens.
February 1917, another German action pushed the United States closer to war.

Why did the Allies want to establish a supply line to Russia?
So that they could close in on Germany from the both East and West.

Why did the wartime governments take control of their countries' economies ?
Because the governments wanted to do everything in their power to win the war. So they told the factories what thye had to make and much they needed. so this also lead to pretty much no unemployment.

total war lead to rationing because so many supplies were needed for the soldiers at war. so people still living their life outside of war could only buy in small amounts like butter and even shoe lether.
Woman stepped up and did their part in the war replacing mens jobs in the factoies and offices and more.

The Allies Win the War
The United States has now entered the war.
Russia starts to have civil unrest in March of 1917.
This civil unrest made Czar Nicholas step down.
In his place a provisional government was put in place and they said they would keep fighting the war.
Eight month in though, Communist leader Vladimir Ilyich Lenin took power, and he wanted end the country's involvement.
The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk was signed between Germany and Russia, calling a truce and ending Russia's involvement in the war.
With the withdrawal of Russia, Germany moved all it troops to the Western Front.
In 1918, they had reached the Marne River again from a massive attack on France.

What effect did the Russian Revolution have on Russia’s role in World War I?
Russia played a very important role for the Allies because without them, there would be no two front war and Germany would have pushed right through the Western Front. With them now out of the war because of Russian Revolution, the Allies would have more to deal with.

this is change because everyone that was involved in the war knew that the war had to stop so they had to make a change to protect their country.
The insecurity and despair that many people experienced are reflected in the art and literature of the time.

Despite the tremendous loss of life and economic devastation and at the uselessness of all of the suffering that took place.
Not only did they have to pay a large bill but they also had to fix destroyed acres of farmland, as well as homes, villages, and towns.
