Accurate Reporting: Researchers are required to publish the results of the research even though the results are undesirable. They also requite to give complete information about the research and it is unethical to fabricate or misrepresent the results. The credits must also be taken for their work and given to any other who collaborated in the research
Right to withdraw: Participants are given the ability to withdraw from research at any given moment in time without the need for any explanation and are to be informed prior concerning their right to withdraw without any negative consequences. The participants must also not be pressured by anyone to continue participating
Confidentiality: Participants must be given the right to complete confidentiality and no personal information is allowed to be disclosed. This applies to the storage of data, access of data by others and the publication of any research or findings, protecting privacy can be ensured through anonymity between researchers and participants
Debriefing: This is a process that must occur at the end of every study, it is important to carry out if deception is used to obtain results, and participants should be informed of the manipulation and deception. Participants must also be given the opportunity to ask any questions or raise concerns with the research and must be justified and given compensation/repair for any harm caused to the participats
Voluntary participation: researchers need to ensure that there is no bias or coercion used in order to recruit volunteers to participate. There must also be no negative consequences involved for the participants if they choose to refuse to participate of withdraw at any point during the study.
Informed Consent: Participants are required to be informed of the aim of the study, the factors involved or any risks it may pose to the participant. This information should be passed in n understandable and clear manner and any deception is only allowed if it is necessary to answer the research question. The participants included must sign a form of consent and children of others who are unable to give their consent must be given consent to participate from a parent, guardian or caregiver.
Deception: Deception may not be used at any point through out the study unless it is required o obtain results from participants, however if this causes harm to participants n any way at any point the use of deception is forbidden. Participants will be informed of any deception used during the debriefing of the study and justified.
Sample audience
Trauma survivors depending on the individuals current mental state and past can either have a negative association with certain genres of music. This trauma can cause stress and anxiety within participants and cause their heartrates to make drastic changes skewing the data.
Average person, the average person could be randomly selected for the sample size, which could include a neutral emotional state with no major mental or physical illnesses or strong traumas and other negative emotions affected the persons abilities of using memory with emotional association
People with mental impairments or mental disabilities may have a disadvantage against the average population due to their condition/s restricting them from reacting to the music in the same way other do
Variables
Controlled variables are variables in the investigation that are kept the same throughout the whole procedure to ensure the most accurate results
The independent variable is the variable that is manipulated throughout the investigation
The dependent variable is the variable that is measured which is usually unique to its dependence on the independent variable and the effects it has on the dependent variable
Extraneous variables are the uncontrollable variables in an investigation that affect the accuracy of the results and usually cannot be completely eradicated but can however be made less severe
Participant variables are individual differences that participants cannot control such as background, emotional state, sex and intelligence.
Situational variables are associated with the actual procedure of the investigation that may affect the the results such as background noise times of day and temperature
Placebo effect is a participants responses to what they believe they are expected to feel or believe rathe than the actual results, disregarding the IV
Design types
Quantitative design types: A design type where the data recorded involves numerical results that can be measured and compared against other numerical data sets
Qualitative design types: A design type where the data recorded is not recorded numerically but however includes results using descriptions of quality or characteristics
Objective design types: A design type that is used for data that is collected directly from researchers on a participants performance or data
Subjective design types: A design type can be used for data that is recorded by the participants on their own performance in the investigation and is completely subjective to their own viewing

The stages of sleep
REM sleep occurs first 90 minutes after falling asleep and the eyes make rapid movements from side to side behind closed eyelids. The breathing becomes fast and irregular and the heart rate and blood pressure becomes similar to a state of consciousness. In this stage most dreams occur and the body becomes temporarily paralyzed to restrict the body from reacting within the dream. The amount of sleep required in REM sleep however decreases with age.
non REM sleep
The second stage of non-REM sleep is a period of light sleep where the heartbeat, breathing and muscles relax even further before you enter a deeper sleep. The internal body temperature drops and eye movements stop. An average sleep cycle is spend in this stage more than any other stage.
The first stage of non REM sleep is the beginning of the change from a wake consciousness to falling asleep. During this short period that lasts several minutes the heartrate, breathing and eye movements are all slowed down with muscles also beginning to relax. The brain waves become to slow down from actively engaged patterns.
The final stage of non-REM sleep is the period where deep sleep occurs and your heartbeat and breathing slows down to the lowest level during sleep. The muscles become relaxed and it is hard to awaken from this state.
