social engineering
social engineering is opposite to malware but have similar intents of causing harm to a user or multiple users by using manipulation as a way to gain personal information of a victim
pretexting - act of creating and using an invented scenario so they’d be able to engage a victim and trick them into giving out their personal information or do things that you’d not often do/trick the victim to give info - try to avoid odd questions
baiting - Promising of cash or anything worth value to someone which people with malicious intents use to entice their victim, so they can trick a user to send and give their own personal info and login credentials - try and avoid it if seen
quid pro quo - Very similar as to baiting yet benefit is that it usually a service different to cash or goods - “helps” the user but is instead use to manipulate the user to give their info when giving assistance to user but they really not
phishing - By Sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies so they can incite people to reveal and give personal info - see if aren’t named or and if they have spelling mistakes or anything really suspicious (scam emails)
