Heartbeat control
Cycle is initiated by specialised patch of muscle in wall of right atrium called sinoatrial node (SAN)
When SAN contracts, it starts a wave of excitation (electrical wave)
Wave of excitation reaches atrioventricular node (AVN), which delays the wave for a fraction of a second and then sends it down to the ventricles

Wave moves from bottom of ventricles upwards along Purkinje fibres (so blood is squeezed upwards to arteries)

Left side of heart is much thicker than right because blood in left side is pumped to whole body rather than just lungs as it is on the right
