Stage 1
Platelets adhere to tissues around a wound, forming a blood clot and sealing damaged blood vessels.
the damaged tissue causes release of histamine which triggers vasodilation (opening of) and increases the permeability (being like a sponge) of the blood vessels.
this increases the delivery of white blood cells. which helps remove microbes and foreign particles via phagocytosis (indigestion)
-
Stage 3
Within days, the body begins to replace injured tissue, make the wound contract, and repair damaged blood vessels.
-
Stage 4
Finally, scar tissue remodels and strengthens the damaged area.
