Coastal landscapes
Flooding from tsunamis or debris form volcanoes and earthquakes Increase sediment budget, disturb equilibrium

Volcanic and earthquake activity can hinder development and equality e.g areas in active areas may have a poorer population as its cheaper to live there- at higher risks of hazards
Severe impacts in LIDCs hinder development e.g deaths impact workforce, damage to buildings and agricultural land
Ash, lava, ground shaking etc can alter demographic, environent, political etc
Short medium or long term, changes with type of eruption
Representations of place and hazardous areas e.g Photos and data is more formal but movies are dramatised and inaccurate
-
Successful placemaking or rebranding must take into account the risk of hazards e.g aseismic building design, evacuation plans
Migration
Tectonic events can lead to evacuation of large populations to neighbouring countries, repeated disasters can lead to migration to safer countries as seen in the dynamic risk perception model
Power and borders
Volcanic and tectonic hazards can threaten sovereignty and territorial integrity e.g destruction of government buildings and land defamation
Places may need intervention as their physical land is scrutinised and peoples livelehoods are threatened
Disease Dillemas and
Migration
Migration can affect disease diffusion e.g relocation of Red Cross workers to Haiti caused cholera outbreak
-
-
-
Coastal landscapes
Flooding of coastal areas and rivers e.g deltas provide breeding grounds for many vectors and stagnant water is created in densely populated areas
-

CSMP
Domination of disease can alter external perception of a place e.g western media convey may southern hemispherical countries as full of disease
