Russo-Japanese War
The Russo-Japanese war and WW1 caused many able-bodied men to be drafted into the army, and women took their place in the fields and factories, however, they were paid a lot less, creating gender inequality and driving the population into devastating poverty. These wars also created al large economic crisis, which left the country with little resources and not a lot of money at hand.

Change in policies
The shah changed some policies in the government to favor the western ideals, Many people did not like this, as they saw these policies as the shah being a puppet of the western "devil"
Long Term
The US was also affected by the Iranian revolution, since they had lost a key strategic ally, and had also gained a new enemy.
Because of the Iranian revolution, the Iran government changed from a monarchy to a theocracy. Theocracy is a government that is led by a religion with religious laws.
Significant Individuals
Khomeini
After leading many speeches and starting a minor protest in Iran, the Shah decided to deal with him by imprisoning him then exiling him out of Iran. Khomeini fled to other places of the world, but still continued on making cassette tapes as speeches for the people of Iran to continue on hearing his voice.
The exile of Khomeini led the people of Iran to start a bigger protest, starting to realize the wrongdoings of the Shah and this was a big start to the Iranian revolution and the downfall of the Shah
He was a highly ranked person in Iran, also known as an ayatollah, a religious leader. Khomeini wrote and criticised the Shah and caught the attention of many people

He supported many western ideas, which opposed the views of the Islamic leaders, who were the leaders of the cause against the shah
He neglected state duties and affairs in favor of his own personal enjoyment, such as western-style parties and vacations to overseas countries.
