Theories of Emotion

Cannon-bard ~ perceive stimulus and reaction and emotion stimultaneously

Two-factor Theory ~ Cognitive appraisal, physical arousal and emotion provoking stimulus > forms emotion

James-Lange theory ~ emotion-provoking stimulus produces a physical response, and produce an emotion (sequential)

Misattributon of emotion ~ true source of physiological aroousal is caused by one thing, but you incorrectly credit your arousal to something else

Arousal, Performance, and the Inverted "U"

Inverted "U" function ~ describes the relationship between arousal and performance; both low and high levels of arousal produce lower performance than moderate level

Varies based on difficulty, the higher the difficulty, the higher the moderation of arousal
