Time Frame
Because a project is a short-term endeavour, it must have a clear beginning and end. Many projects begin on a specific date and have an estimated completion date. Some projects have a fixed deadline by which they must be completed.
Purpose
A goal must be to create something tangible and valuable to the organisation. A project must have a goal to drive it in terms of outlining the work that needs to be done.
Ownership
The project must deliver something of value to an individual or group who will own the finished project output.
Resources
IT projects need the investment of time, money, people, and technology. Resources are both a method of reaching a project's aim and a limitation.

Risks and Assumptions
Every undertaking involves some level of risk. Risk can come from a variety of sources, both external and inside to the project team. Internal risk, for example, may occur as a result of the estimating process.
-
Interdependent Tasks
Several interrelated tasks are required for project work. A network, for example, cannot be deployed until the hardware is supplied. Alternatively, certain criteria cannot be included into design until a key user has been interviewed.
-
Organizational Change
The project is an organised transformation. Because the execution of the IT project will alter how people operate, change must be understood and managed.
