Eric
In Act Two, Eric is absent from the stage. He is unable to defend himself from his mother.
-
Sheila
In Act Two, Sheila becomes more confident and is already showing socialist views. She stands up against her parents and breaks of her engagement with Gerald.
-
-
Mr Birling
Defends Gerald's affair, claiming that all young men do it.
-
Gerald
In Act Two, he shows a lack of responsibility when he tries to get out of confessing to the inspector about his affair
-
Mrs Birling
In Act Two, she confesses that she used her authority to refuse Sheila the help that she needed.
She does not see her role in the charity as one to help people less fortunate, but as one which decides who does and doesn't deserve to be helped.
Despite being a woman (and not a feminist by any means) she is ambitious and sees herself fit to judge others.
