Erectile dysfunction
Risk factors

Pathophysiology
-
•An inability of the brain to respond to sexual stimuli can interrupt the signal to the parasympathetic nervous system that release impulses that cause small arteries in the penis to dilate, resulting in insufficient blood flow to the corpora cavernosa.
•The sympathetic nervous system controls both orgasm and ejaculation, these two functions can occur without erection.
•When sexual stimulation diminishes, the arteries in the penis constricts, reducing blood flow and the veins need to expand to allow disengagement.
