Determined by instructional goals and elements of interactivity E.g. teaching French and the need to learn vocabulary, levels of interactivity are low therefore intrinsic load is also low.
Effective lessons need to be split into small segments creating relevant pre requisite tasks. Shorter words are easier to remember.
