Technology

The process of wool farming

South Africa's wool industry is one of the largest in the world meaning we provide most of the wool that gets manufactured. There many many aspects of wool farming on the farm and lots of infrastructure needs to takes place before wool farming can start. You need to have a lot of sheep to fill the bales, the wool needs to be scouring from the sheep, sorting, dyeing, rolling and than comb through.

Activity: Teacher provides each learner with a toilet roll with cotton wool on. Learners are now instructed to start wool farming by starting the process of scouring from the sheep meaning taking off cotton wool from toilet paper, sorting it into small piles etc.: Learners are also provided with a piece of paper of a template of clothing where they can make the own clothes' of wool either trousers or jacket. They will than communicate and explain to the class what they made.

Animals under water

Animals living under water its called marine life. We have various animals that lives under water and living under water survive in poorly oxygenated waters. Fishes have gills instead of lungs like we do there are well other fishes that have lungs like lungfish which have both many under sea creatures live together and all for them serve they own purpose underneath.

Activity: Learners now have to create a fish tank from scratch they will be placed in groups with a 2L water bottle which will be cut in half and design and make they own.
