health problems like high blood pressure, depression,
Gastroenteritis
poverty, resulting from high costs of water
-
Environmental
Few animals, only small percentage of animals developed skills to survive in these conditions.
no vegetation, since no water to grow. if exposure to sudden floods, there would be little defence systems.
Extreme Drought, due to there being no water, the area would be drier than normal.
Certain lavatories such as pit-latrine, fracking, and use of arsenic would cause the underground freshwater storage to be polluted.
-
Economic
Hindering economic developments.
Example in the middle east:
“If water availability decreases by 20 percent, then the six countries could face an annual drop in GDP of between 5 percent to 10 percent compared to 2016 levels。”
Raising commodity prices- water is seen as a basic need for a variety of industries, as water is limited, the capacity of production for its related products are limited as well. Since the amount it scarce, the price raises, a larger percentage of people shall lose access.
Limiting the development of industries- industries such as agriculture which heavily rely on water would not be able to achieve any major developments as the water resource is extremely limited.
Economic inequalities- Water scarcity adds more value to water, regions and countries which owns water shall hold a great economic advantage, while those who lacks the resource becomes poor and shall be taken advantage by those who owns water.
