pathophysiology
insulin resistance
the tissues don't respond to insulin --> body compensates for hyperglycemia by producing more insulin = high insulin resistance
eventually beta cells of the pancreas begin to get overworked and lose functionality = low insulin production and uptake = hyperglycemia
