HISTORY
According to mutual rights, in 1787 to manage, collect taxes as well as solve internal problems, Nguyen Anh allowed Chinese people with the same dialect to set up associations. Each board has its own office and is called a club
. In particular, On Lang Assembly Hall (located in Cho Lon, District 5) is the headquarters of the original Chinese in Quanzhou, Fujian province, China.
Every time you have the opportunity to visit On Lang Pagoda in District 5, you will see a lot of stone steles recording the process of formation and development of On Lang Assembly Hall.
However, information about the time of building the Assembly Hall is not available or no longer exists. Therefore, to this day, it is not known exactly what year the Assembly Hall was built.
There are many sources that the Assembly Hall was built by compatriots from five districts: Tan Giang, Nam An, Hue An, Dong An, An Khe belonging to Quan Chau government, Fujian province (China) in Cho Lon. built in 1740.
According to the content recorded on the stone stele established in 1869, the ancient Chinese established the Assembly Hall for the purpose of discussing public affairs and worshiping gods as well as through sacrifices to support fellow countrymen and correct customs.
Up to now, On Lang Assembly Hall has undergone many restorations. Accordingly, in 1828, General Director Thai Nguyen Hung in the committee raised ten thousand francs of money to use for the restoration of the Assembly Hall
On December 30, 2002, On Lang Assembly Hall was recognized by the Ministry of Culture and Information as a national architectural and artistic relic according to Decision No. 39/2002/QD-BVHTT.

Architecture inside
The interior architecture of On Lang Pagoda is a combination of many disciplines such as sculpture, painting, decoration in a harmonious, diverse and rich manner.
The worshiping statue here is carved in the right direction and colored and decorated according to the convention. In particular, the spirit and style of the gods are expressed by the artists through facial expressions and body shapes.
Therefore, these statues create closeness to the people who come to worship. For example, the red-faced Quan Cong has Quan Binh, Chau Xuong follows her, Thien Hau has a kind face sitting on the throne, Ngoc Hoang holds a bucket, etc.
The pair of stone lions (engraved in 1869) are placed on both sides of the door and some other artifacts such as Dai Hong Chung (cast in the year of the Rooster - 1885) are also one of the unique sculptures of On Lang Pagoda. These works have created the artistic value of On Lang Pagoda over the years.

HOW TO GET THERE
On Lang Pagoda is located at 12 Lao Tu, Ward 11, District 5, Ho Chi Minh City.
On Lang Assembly Hall is one of the must-visit attractions for those who love Chinese architecture. The temple is located in the city center, so it is very convenient for tourists to move here to visit. You can go by motorbike, taxi, bus, ... depending on the needs of each person.
Accordingly, to go to the pagoda, visitors can go from Nguyen Hue pedestrian street along Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street through the roundabout and then turn into Hung Vuong street and then go to Hong Bang. Next, you turn left at Chau Van Liem Crossroads and then continue to turn left on Lao Tu Street to reach On Lang Pagoda.
The opening time of On Lang Pagoda is from 6:15 am to 17:00 pm. Particularly on the 30th day of Tet, the temple will be closed from 11am to clean up and prepare to welcome visitors here to worship on the 1st day of the New Year. On the first day of the Lunar New Year, the pagoda will be open all day to serve the needs of the people.
