In 1570, Nguyen Hoang took power to defend Quang Nam and along with Nguyen Phuc Nguyen, his son, built a fortress, planned to develop the internal economy, expand trade with foreign countries. From here, Hoi An became the busiest international trading port in Southeast Asia.
