THE INDEPENDENCE PALACE
HISTORY
After 1954, Ngo Dinh Diem (President of South Vietnam) decided to renamed it from Norodom Palace to the Independent Palace.
In 1962, this palace was heavily destroyed by bombs.

The President ordered a new modernist residence to be built on the same site, this time with a sizeable bomb shelter in the basement. Work was completed in 1966 but Diem was killed by his own troops in 1963

TIPS FOR VISITING
Rules: Most of the halls inside the palace have red ribbons hung on the outside, meaning you’re not allowed to step in or touch the displayed objects; No pets and animals allowed.
Clothes: Wear appropriate clothing. Short and dresses are allowed, but not too flashy outfits.
What to brings: Leave large luggage, food and drink outside of the palace. Do not bring weapons, toxic and combustible substances inside.
