The word “Pia” comes from the Teochew language, “Pi-e” means cake.

Process
The filling
Skillful bakers will make cakes from taro, green beans and eggs
After treating the beans, peeling the taro skin, they will put it all in a steamer until it's cooked and then pureed

Finally, when the filling has cooled, the worker will wrap the filling around each duck's heart, add a little red pork to add more fat and aroma to the cake.
The shell
After going through the chain of rolling, rolling, folding flour many times with layers of "water dough" and "oil dough" overlapping each other

Food meaning
In the past, pia cake was a typical dish in the tray on important occasions such as weddings
After a while, it carries the meaning of welcoming the full moon in August
Later on, pia cake becomes a spiritual dish, a symbol of family reunion.
