    - - Poppies, suffering from physical loss, kamikaze, suffering from the cultural rejection of her father- Kamikaze, 'we too learned to be silent' adjective silent shows a complete disconnection to her father, Poppies, 'single dove'- metaphor for her and her son as doves usually travel together but now she must travel alone, doves also symbolize innocence and the memories she has of him when he was younger
