What is Cardiovascular Health?

Cardiovascular health refers to the state of a person's cardiovascular system, which includes the heart, blood vessels, and blood. A healthy cardiovascular system is essential for maintaining overall health and well-being, as it ensures that oxygen and nutrients are delivered to all parts of the body. Cardiovascular health can be influenced by a variety of factors, including genetics, lifestyle choices, and environmental factors. Maintaining good cardiovascular health involves adopting habits and behaviors that promote healthy heart function and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. This not only impacts the rate that you can boost your cardiovascular health but also helps you maintain it.

Confidentiality - The participants of this survey/investigation are to remain anonymous so that no individual feels judged or discriminated against due to their body, age & weight to name some.

Independent: Type of exercise

Dependent: Heart Rate

Uncontrollable:
The amount of sleep that an individual gets.
If they are correctly executing the investigation
The quality of the food an individual gets
The physical & mental state of an individual

Control: The year level, program, time(1 month), 1 time exercise in a day (1.5 hours)

Age - The reason why a controlled group of students was chosen is because if there is a wide range of ages present in this investigation then results will differ, because blood vessels become less flexible and stiffer when people age, which can lead to an increase in blood pressure and a decrease in blood flow. Also increases the chances of chronic diseases relating to your cardiovascular health.

Who will be the sample size and what size

The sample size required for this investigation are a randomised group of year 12 students. The reason why year 12 students are incorporated into this investigation is because they are going through very essential year in their life which not only puts a lot of pressure on them causing stress thus affecting their mental wellbeing. There will be a limited amount of students roughly 10 randomly chosen to eliminate bias.

Informed Consent - As the participants are participating for this survey/investigation they are informed about everything that they will be tested on, certain limitations & many more things. They will only be tested for what the investigation is based upon and with only their consent for them to be part of this survey/investigation.

Optional Participation - Is an essential aspect of ethics because consent for participation is important and the period of time they are acknowledging is also vital. This is because you can't ethically test a group of year 12 students for 6 months

Lifestyle Habits

Engaging in regular physical activity is essential for maintaining good cardiovascular health. Engaging in aerobic exercises such as brisk walking, jogging, cycling, or swimming, for at least 150 minutes per week can help to improve heart function, reduce blood pressure, and lower cholesterol levels. Strength training exercises can also help to improve cardiovascular health by increasing muscle mass and reducing the risk of insulin resistance. Exercising regularly also impacts on your digestion system as it increases blood flow to the muscles in the digestive system. Physical activates also help you burn body fat thus being a factor which boost cardiovascular health

Chronic sleep deprivation can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease by contributing to inflammation, insulin resistance, and other risk factors. Aiming for 7-9 hours of sleep per night to help maintain good cardiovascular health.

Chronic stress can have a negative impact on cardiovascular health, as it can increase blood pressure and heart rate, and lead to the release of stress hormones that can damage blood vessels. Practicing stress-management techniques such as meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises can help to reduce stress and promote heart health. Engaging in enjoyable activities and socializing with others can also help to decrease stress to help boost your mental wellbeing.

A healthy diet is essential for your body to obtain the right amounts of nutrients and are an important factor in promoting cardiovascular health.Eating a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and healthy fats can help to reduce the risk of heart disease by lowering blood pressure, reducing inflammation, and improving cholesterol levels. Avoiding processed foods, saturated and trans fats, and excess salt and sugar is important to prevent the build-up of plaque in the arteries, which can lead to heart disease.

Having increased amounts of fat in your body otherwise known as obesity is a leading cause for cardiovascular disease such as Stroke, coronary heart disease, Aortic disease and many more. Obesity can also have negative repercussions such as increase in cholesterol levels, increase in blood pressure and inflammation in the body. Achieving and maintaining a healthy body weight through a combination of healthy eating and regular exercise is essential for reducing the risk of heart disease & boosting your health

Managing Stress

Quality of food - Is a major physiological parameter because each participant has access to different resources. These resources may vary in nutritional value, quality and therefore can effect their body. Due to this the quality of food is a physiological parameter in the investigation.

Gender - Gender is another significant physiological parameter because woman tend to have a lower resting heart rate and lower blood pressure compared to men. Women also tend to have higher levels of estrogen, which can have both positive and negative effects on cardiovascular health. Women also may have different risk factors for cardiovascular disease compared to men, such as pregnancy-related complications or autoimmune diseases that can affect the heart

This investigation will be an observation due to the certain aspects it makes the participants undergo to help us understand & break down "how quickly can you boost cardiovascular health" by putting adolescents to the test. It is an observation because it observes their progress from the start to end and explores many limitations, factors & variables which could potentially affect the "how" in the research question

This investigation will be carried out physically by the year 12 group. They will be tested and provided with certain timetable regarding when they have to exercise for example & when they have to eat. These are the sort of things they will be assigned. Due to this timetable the accuracy of the data can be higher and difference in results can be more distinguishable.

Age - Age can be measured by collecting data of participants completing a survey form about their age. Through this data we are able to get the estimate of which age group can quickly boost cardiovascular health

Weight - Taking a BMI test can present a much more accurate data regarding your weight. Through this we can get a better understanding about where your BMI was at the start and then at the end through this investigation.

Healthy Diet - It can be measured through the physical changes that your body is undergoing such as weight loss, the weaknesses in your body going away & the nutrition intake. This can be done through blood tests.

Sleep - By measuring the resting heart rate it can be measured if you have a good cardiovascular health. As a lower resting heart rate is generally considered a sign of good cardiovascular health.

Stress - It can be measured by Inflammatory markers: Chronic stress can increase inflammation in the body, which can contribute to the development of cardiovascular disease.

Health Check-ups - To understand "how quickly you can boost your cardiovascular health" it is important to have health check-ups to show your progression overview.

Physical Activity - This can be measured through testing their heart rate whenever they exercise for a period of 1 month. Through this period we can test how their heart rate developed through readings done by the heart rate monitor & the individuals undergoing endurance testing.

Smoking/Alcohol - The effect of smoking/alcohol can be measured by Arterial stiffness: Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can cause the arteries to become stiff, which can increase the risk of heart attack and stroke. This is a leading factor to the increase in CVD. That is why is is important to limit the intake of alcohol and stop smoking.

Advantages - The advantages of this observation is that it provides accurate data through a much longer period of time, thus, helping us explore the research question in depth.

Disadvantages - The disadvantages are always present in many investigations. Some of the disadvantages present in this are some limitations, the quality of products, accuracy of truth & many uncontrollable variables.

How quickly is too quickly?

There has been a certain time period that is set for this investigation due to ethical factors. You cannot have the participants testing this research topic for 6 months as this is not an ethical timeframe. 1 month is not only suitable but also can show "how" quickly you can boost your health in this period.

To measure how quickly a person can boost their CVH, using blood pressure monitors, heart rate monitors, BMI over this timeframe can show results & accuracy.

The reason why collating the data at the end through a survey is the most effective because the survey will remain anonymous about the individuals results due to ethical requirements. From this survey we will be able to get a broader view of how quickly can you boost cardiovascular health.

Smoking/Alcohol

Smoking is one of the most significant risk factors for cardiovascular disease, as it damages the blood vessels and increases the risk of blood clots. Quitting smoking can improve cardiovascular health and reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other complications. Support groups, nicotine replacement therapy, and other strategies can be effective in quitting smoking. Alcohol is another factor that risks the increase in CVD so by limiting the intake on alcohol can be beneficial for long term good cardiovascular health.
