Harmful habits
Some substances and habits are very harmful to your health.They cause dangerous illnesses and create dependence. This means people become addicted to them. They know the damage they cause to the body, but they are not able to stop taking them.
Tobacco
Contains nicotine, a substance that causes addiction. It also contains other toxic substances like tar, ammonia and arsenic. These cause serious diseases like lung cancer. When a person smokes, nicotine enters in their blood, their heart rate increases and they have a reduced oxygen supply in their body.
Drugs
Cocaine, heroin and amphetamines are chemical substances. The blood transports them around the body and they attack the brain. Addicts are often unable study or work. At first the drugs make the addict feel good, but then they need drugs to feel normal.
Alcohol
Is the most commonly abused drug in the world. It causes addiction.The harmful effects of alcohol are greater in young people because they are growing. Alcohol damages the stomach, the brain and the liver. Drinking large amounts of alcohol quickly can result in alcohol poisoning and sometimes death.
Mobile phone overuse
Spending too much time on technological devices can cause isolation and dependency. People become obsessed with playing games or staying in constant contact with groups of friends. This dependency stops then having physical acticities.
