As Supreme Head of the Church of England he has total control over religion in his realm. The Pope and the Catholic Church have no power.
The people tended to do what the church told them to do. Henry now had control of these messages.
Economics
He needed money to continue fighting the war with France.
He took control of the Catholic Churches wealth and land.
The Catholic Church owned 1/3 of all the land in England. This was now Henry's.-
Church taxes (Tithes) would now be paid to his Church, not Rome's.
Golden statues and work's of art could be sold.

It started in 1517 - and was spreading fast by 1527

Anne Boleyn refused to have a relationship with him until he married her.
He had to divorce Catherine of Aragon to marry Anne Boyleyn
He had to have permisson of the Pope to divorce Catherine of Aragon
The Pope refused multiple times
May 1534 - The Pope declares that Henry is officially still married to Catherine of Aragon. Henry has to annul the marriage as he is already married to Anne Boleyn and she is due to give birth in September 1534.
HENRY DECLARES ENGLAND TO BE A PROTESTANT COUNTRY WITH HIMSELF AS SUPREME LEADER:
In 1531 Henry makes himself Head of the English Catholic Church, but power is still shared with Rome.
In Jan 1533 Henry secretly marries Anne Boleyn - She becomes pregnant.
Future Prince or Princess and King or Queen of England. Henry has to marry AB publically for her to be Queen and his child legitimate heir to the throne of England.
