Negative
To form the negative, we attach ‘not’ to the modal verb. In the case of ‘can’, it forms a single word with the particle ‘cannot’, we write it together. When we contract the negative we get ‘can’t’.

Question
To form questions, it follows the same rules as in other tenses. In questions, the subject changes positions with the auxiliary. As in this case the auxiliary is a modal verb, it is ‘can’ the one changing positions with the subject.

Must

Negative
To form the negative, we attach ‘not’ to the modal verb. In the case of ‘must’, we write the modal and the particle separately, ‘must not’. But the most common way is using the contraction ‘mustn’t’.

Finally, forming questions with ‘must’ follows the same rules as in other modals and other tenses. We need to change the positions of the subject and the modal verb.

Another use of ‘must’ is for expressing necessary actions when it is really important that we do them, mostly because not doing them have negative or undesired effects.
