The prepositional phrase includes the preposition and its object, a noun, a person, place, thing, idea, or pronoun, and a word that replaces a noun.

Examples:

On the Car.
Under the table.

In each one there is a preposition followed by an object.

The Function of Prepositional Phrases

Prepositional phrases function as either adjectives modifying nouns or adverbs modifying verbs.

If your prepositional phrase is acting as an adjective, it will modify a noun or pronoun. It will answer questions like: what kind, which one, how many, or how much
