Reasons to do this project (Litter Pick) # # # #
Social:
-People can get together every week and meet new people or get time to chat with their friends, family or strangers
-Helps make the village feel more like a community which may net more benefits than solely removing litter
-Community events may become more popular as a result of this and people may feel more guilty about leaving litter
Environmental:
-Helps keep rubbish out the village and off the roads and fields
-Helps keep bins from overflowing
-Promotes awareness of the problem as its a problem in my village with litter and there is always a lot of it.
-
Fitness:
-Regular walking will be beneficial to members of the village who can attend and will help everyone stay fit
-This also acts as an incentive to some as its r reason to stay fit whilst also making a positive impact in the local area
Available Means:
-My mum owns a holiday lodging business in the area so I can use that for advertisements
-After speaking with her she also agreed to provide incentives for litter picking such as if you go litter picking you get a stamp and if you go to enough you can be entered into the raffle for a free weekend in a lodge. This also benefits the company as it promotes them
-Friends and family live near the area so can help to promote it
-Some supplies can be provided for free such as bags and drinks, litter picks are not too expensive either and will be a necessary cost
-
Affordable Loss
-Shouldn't cost much money
-Time put into it, start at the beginning of easter
-Lower turnout is a potential loss however it still benefits the village and may grow over time

Prototype Design (Litter pick) #
What areas the litter pick will cover #

-
Survey People to get feedback
#
Self awareness:
-My ability to understand my moods and emotions and how they impact others in reasonably good.
#
Social Awareness:
-This skill is weaker for me but I still feel I'm fairly good at understanding the emotions of those around me. However, this is likely due to those around me being those I'm highly familiar with and hence not representative of my overall social awareness which will be used in this project
Self Management:
-My emotional self management is quite good. I often feel that I have thought about doing something in the moment and restrained myself due to consider the impact it may have on others, linking to social awareness #
Social skills
-My ability to build relationship and continue to further those and new ones is fairly weak compared to the other areas of emotional intelligence. However this project will be a good opportunity to focus on this area and will be crucial for its success.
Qualities that i possess

Determination, particularly when I have a clear goal # # #

Potential Projects
Create a university student guide #
Organise a car share system in the village #
-
Reasons to do this project # # #
Available means:
-First-year University student, started around 7 months ago meaning I know what its like and its fresh I'm my mind the feelings and experiences of starting university.
-Could be online as I have experience with website design and have friends I could also ask who have started websites before.
-Online is more accessible for me
-I have a computer and stable internet connection at University and at home, meaning I can always update the guide and build upon it with new entries
-Friends at university who can give their experiences and help with having multiple sources for this guide.
What value does this create?
- Helps new university students understand what experiences they are going through and see solutions that worked for others.
-
Affordable Loss
-Creating a website can be done for free or relatively cheap
-doesnt cost money to interview friends
-being at university whilst creating the guide means and roadblocks I run into I can easily find a solution to
-Time consuming, but all projects will be time consuming so doesn't matter
-People may not see the guide and it fails to gain traction
How to attract customers
#
Posters around the village # # # #
Have local holiday lodge business promote it on their social media and take part.

Environmental Issues
Litter Problems
-Massive problem in my home village, litter on country lanes and around the village.
-Not enough bins either
#
Global warming:
-global crisis but could organise something to help prevent this #
-
-
Reasons to do this project # #
-
Social:
-helps people meet each other and become closer over time.
-builds a stronger sense of community in the village.

-
-
What are the expectations of customers/ how can I meet them
#

-
Entreprenuerial Norms in my environment #
My mum and aunt have started 2 businesses together and discontinued the first one and are still working on the second one and it is fairly successful.
-this has helped me learn about the challenges of managing your own business and not backing down when it fails the first time. This is massively beneficial to my project as I will be trialing multiple ideas.

SMART objectives for the litter pick
#
I want to run 3 litter picks that last for at least 2 hours each over the easter break with a turnout of at least 10 people.
I will achieve this by effectively promoting my product and sticking to strict operations as laid out in my organisation of the project. This will allow me to achieve this objective. In the long run I want this litter pick to continue over the 3 months of summer aswell.
Demonstrated in the past through actions such as selling items on Ebay # #
Learning new skills art part time job as a tree surgeon # #
Keeping a strict revision schedule at A-Level #
-
Crucial for this project, as i will need to undergo new things and experiment, things that go wrong are a useful learning process and i can reflect on them and benefit in the long run
-
This will help me identify gaps in the areas my projects may be in
#
Also beneficial for keeping up to date with entrepreneurs and could be good inspiration for innovation
Practice, take personality quizzes to see personal weaknesses
# #
Acknowledge the problems with personality quizzes as they put you into a box and can influence your actions so you align yourself with what it says you are. Just use it as a base to grow my mindset further
Learning from them when they happen, but not taking the initial chance that could go wrong
#
The results were that I have a good foundation for motivation and willingness to learn and change.
-Said that I may not allow myself to have an influence on areas where I could make a change
-A challenge for me may be applying new knowledge and skills.
-I was described as a Constructive organiser who brings direction and order, I kind of agree with this. # #
The quiz was helpful to a smaller extent. It was beneficial for seeing some flaws which I do agree with however I felt I didn't agree with some of the results.
The quiz has helped me believe I should take these risky steps such as starting my project and allowing myself to exert an influence and learn from mistakes that may arise
The plan here is to organize a weekly litter pick around my home village. # #
Plan out what routes around the village we will take. Depending on the number that turn up we will split into different groups so we can cover a wider area easier
This is the Project I'm going with #
Put people into groups, or people can stay with family/friends. Accommodate for peoples needs/wants.
Net well-being improvement for the village, aswell as helping the environment
-People can get as much out of this as they want. They decide how far they walk and how much effort they put in.
The issue is being able to guarentee safety is not really possible. Which is why car sharing is usually among family and friends
Can attempt to contact people and arrange times. However this constrains people to schedules and ultimately is inefficient and due to how infrequent this will be due to it being a small village makes this an ineffective project idea #
Limited by requiring people to actually walk by, not everyone in the village goes around the whole village
How many will i produce #
Put around 5 - 10 up. Any more and it would start bothering people and would have an adverse effect and look pushy.
What will I include on the posters:
-Information about the trip
-Don't make it pushy or forceful
-Include information about other benefits such as the social aspects and the fitness aspect, without sounding rude
-don't focus too much on the environment but include images of some of the bad cases of litter around the area
#
To ensure success of the posters and a good reception:
-I will ask village residents for opinions before putting them up
-I will ask reasons they would go on a litter pick and if they think the litter is a problem around the village
-this peer reviewing will also help make sure my poster is not offensive or too pushy and help ensure a better reception for the final product #
This will require me to go outside of my comfort zone and speak to strangers and ask for opinions.
- however this makes it a good activity for me to undertake becauuse of this. #
I will then use the feedback i received to improve the poster for the final one that wil go up around the village.
I will use standard paper posters printed from microsoft word. I will laminate them to account for the rain.
-This should not cost much so i will not have to go out of my way to do this as we have paper, a printer and a laminator already. #
-this will help spread it to those on social media and also provide a more official feel as a company is also getting involved which may make it more appealing to the local residents.
Costs:
-free
-doesn't take much time #
-
This is important for being entrepreneurial as i will be working with strangers and its useful to understand how my actions may impact them
