Rules of medication administration
Right Patient check number of patients make sure we are responding to the same patient
right medication and indication giving your patient the right medication is critical if someones glucose levels are low we aren't going to give them aspirin
Right Dose Verify the form and dosage of medication you are administering to your patient giving your patient the wrong medication or dosage may include life or death
Right time is important as well making sure OTC and prescription medications are not expired if they may look discolored cloudiness or particles in liquid medication do not administer it
Right route Confirming the right route of administration is critical as well we want to verify the the route matches the medication
Right Education confirm or reconfirm the medication the patient is taking and if the patient is allergic to any of the medication you might administer
