THE SUN
For example, climate change affects flood, drought, air pollution (including bushfire smoke, sand and dust storms), food supply and others which are related to increased risks of mortality.
While some don't believe in it, scientists have long provided substantial evidence including global temperature rising, warming oceans, shrinking icecaps, extreme weather events and more.
Planes are dependent on fossil fuels and the emissions from flights end up staying in the atmosphere trigging atmospheric effects that result in warming the planet even more.
SUSTAINABILITY DEFINED:
according to natural geographic scientists estimate that there are over 8.7 million species of plants and animals that exist on the planet however only about 14% of those (1.2 million) have been identified so far
biodiversity is critical to the system of nature, certain species rely on others for their survival, meaning if we take out one species this can have a domino affect on other ones
It was proven in 2018 as researchers found that there is a higher risk of "extinction cascades when other species are not present to fill the gap created by a single speices
As humans are the most dominant species on Earth, we have caused ecosystem level change which in turn has resulted in the rapid loss of biodiversity across the globe.
Stanford biologist Tony Barnoski said the current rate of extinction is 100 times the normal rate.
BBC NEWS
Svalbard in the arctic circle is warming quicker than any other place on Earth
polar bears main source of food which are seals are diminishing and the ice that they are both dependent on melting and there is becoming less of it by the minute
all of Svalbard is having to adapt to this hotter world, both hotter in the water and the air
melting here is raising sea levels and affects weather patterns across the globe, houses are having to be moved and rebuit with new installed barriers to stop more avalanches
TED CLIMATE:
focusing more on renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power
protect nature, protecting oceans, grasslands and deforestation
removing the carbon that remains such as using more electric, investing into carbon removal technology that are both nature based and engineered
"climate change has been underhyped, we are underestimating the economic opporutnity and the risk in this transition"
"How much more damage to we have to endure before we realise that it is cheaper to save this planet than to ruin it?"
carbon neutural fuels need to be developed and the cost needs to be driven down
