People who move to another country for work or economic oppurtunities.

They leave their country of origin due to persecution or fear of persecution and have formally applied for asylum and their application is yet to be concluded.

Benefits

They help the economy grow through work, tax, shopping and rent.

They may have specialist skills in shortage areas like teaching and medicine.

Diversity and tolerance are enhanced with it being more around and the sharing of cultures becomes more common.

Challenges/Disadvantages

Population growth which impacts the demand on things like housing and the NHS.

Rates of pay may reduce if migrants work for lower wages.

Challenges may cause tension and increase support for extremist groups.
