- - - - Depends on relative ease in which the metal loses electrons
      - May be positive or negative

  - - - Is the tendency for a species to be reduced.(More +ve = More likely to undergo reduction)
    - - Is the tendency for a species to undergo oxidation. (More +ve = More likely to undergo oxidation)
        
        Because data is provided in the form of reduction potential, to find oxidation potential, just take the negative of the number.
  - - - Reduction occurs at the cathodes and oxidation occurs at the anodes
        
        Anode is the negative cell while the cathode is the positive cell
    - - A liquid or aqueous substance containing mobile ions that allow it to conduct electricity
    - - Usually consists of a metal in contact with its ions
    - - Consists of a conducting wire connecting the anode to the cathode.
        
        Electrons are pushed from the anode to the cathode. (Does not mean the same electron comes out from the other end)
        
        Electrons lost through oxidation will be pushed to the cathode for reduction to take place.
    - - Prevents the two half-cells from mixing. (Ensures that the metal of one half-cell does not mix with the ions of the other half-cell
      - Maintains electrical neutrality
