United States: For a first offense, possession of marijuana carries a minimum fine of $1,000 and a maximum sentence of one year in jail. A required minimum term of 15 days and a maximum sentence of two years in jail, as well as a fine of up to $2,500, apply for a second conviction.
Philippines: As it stands, life in prison and a fine are the penalties for importing, selling, maintaining a den, dive, or resort, manufacturing, using, and cultivating marijuana and marijuana-related items.
