racism and progress was being seen in popular culture
black footballers such as justin fashanu and john barnes became increasingly common and popular on the pitch. and in 1978 viv anderson became the first black footballer to be on the england team.
however racism could still be seen in football.black players often had monkey noises shouted at them as well as banana skins thrown.

Much of the Punk culture was nihilistic,rejecting the happy hippy culture before it and embraced a DIY attitude
The ability to play a instrument was not as important as the attitude.
The lyrics of their songs reflected the social annelation that many people felt
this social alienation was also part of their outfits which where designed to be shocking.punks wore bondage gear,safety pins,ripped t-shirts and spiky hair.
The sex pistols swore live on tv which was followed with newspaper headlines like ,"TV fury over rock cult filth" and "The filth and fury"
The sex pistols also released a controversial new single "god save the queen" on the queens silver jubilee.the bbc refused to show it but it reached number two in the charts.
Punk concerts where often violent both the bands and audience would spit at each other and scuffles would often break out.

Tended to be working class and influenced by jamaican music and culture.however by the end of the 1970s they where linked with football hooliganism and the national front

was a rising problem in the 1970s ,hooliganism was linked to certain groups such as the chelsea head hunter and became very common with it being called "english disease"
