Desktop Lamp for Students
How can ply wood be bent (without using hinges or any connectors) to create curved shapes using a laser cutter?
How?
I will open YouTube and watch a few tutorials which explain and demonstrate how to create a living hinge with a laser cutter on plywood. I will have to understand and what dimensions do each of them bend and how much of an angle thy are able to bend. Secondly, I can also ask my product design teacher to show me how create a living hinge specifcally in OnShape.

Why?
As someone who wants to create a desktop lamp using plywood and lasercutting, understanding how to bend plywood without using hinges or connectors would be important for me. As plywood does not bend in angles, this would allow me to create unique and curved designs without compromising the strength and durability of the plywood. It would also help me to explore more design possibilities and push the limits of what I can create with the materials and tools I have available.

How to position a lamp properly on a table such that there is no glare or eye strain?
How?
I will use Google to research about what is the best way to use a dektop lamp and what is the best angle to place a lamp at. I will use 3-4 websites and other secondary sources to completely understand the requirement sand more over why is this the case.

Why?
As a designer it is important for me to understand how to position a lamp properly on a table to avoid glare and eye strain. This knowledge will help me design a lamp that not only looks aesthetically pleasing but is also functional and comfortable for users to work under for long periods without causing any harm to their eyesight. As most students use laptops or some type of device while studying I must make sure that angle and height from the light comes from is perfect so that there is no glare on the screen which makes the student unable to see the screen properly.

What other extra features or functions can be incluuded in lamp such as a bluetooth speaker, wireless charger, a clock, etc.
How?
To research this question I will create a survey with a few questions like "Would adding a wireless phone charger be ideal on a desktop lamp for students". I will ask this type of questions with different features instead. This survey will be sent to my peers in school who are students so that the answers which I recieve will be true and logical for all studenst and will satisfy their needs.

Why?
Researching additional features and functions that can be included in a desktop lamp such as a Bluetooth speaker, wireless charger, clock, etc. is crucial for me to create a unique and multifunctional product. This research will help me understand the latest technologies and trends in the market and enable me to design a product that meets the needs and demands of modern students. Adding extra features will make it more modern and will seperate it from the traditional single functioning lamps which is the purpose of this product.

What modes of lights and what level of brightness is best to study in?
How?
I will read articles and studies which were written by other people which give information regarding the best lights to study and also the preferences which people in general have. I will look at lamps in Amazon to see what modes of lights they have so that I can iedntify the most used lights. I will also look in the internet to find if there is a specific brightness level to study in or if it is based on the overall brightness in the room.

Why?
As a designer creating a desktop lamp using plywood and lasercutting, it is important for me to understand the most effective modes of lights and brightness levels for studying. This knowledge will inform my design decisions, ensuring that my lamp meets the needs of students and promotes their productivity and comfort. Furthermore there will be some light modes which will cause eye strain or headaches so this research relates to the safety of the students as well as how effective the lamp is for studying.

How to create a clamp using 3D printing so that the lamp can fit a range of desk thicknesses?
How?
I will search in Google for designs of strong clamps and then I will relate to my product to understand if it is suitable for this kind. Secondly, I will look into thingiverse for different designs of 3D printed clamps that can be adjusted so that it can be suitable for different table sizes.

Why?
As the designer of the desktop lamp, it is important for me to consider how the lamp will be attached to a variety of desk thicknesses. By researching and creating a clamp using 3D printing, I can ensure that the lamp will be adaptable and easy to use for a wider range of customers with different desk sizes, making it a more versatile and functional product. Moreover with a clamp the lamp can be attached from the side of the desk which uses less space than creating a flat base which would occupy space on the table.
