When to die
The hayflick limit tells us that a cell can only divide 40-60 times. Telomers tell how many times it can still divide and when it is too short it goes into apoptosis

Cell Cycle
-
Interphase
This is the part of the cell cycle where the cell grows enough to split into 2 cells and this leads into mitosis.
DNA replication
Hydrogen bonds between the nucleotides break, then the DNA gets separated. After that, Free nucleotides attach to the exposed strands of DNA. The hydrogen bonds then form again.
Cell checkpoints
a stage in the eukaryotic cell cycle at which the cell examines internal and external cues and "decides" whether or not to move forward with division. If a cell passes the examination of the checkpoint, it will continue through the cell cycle. If not, it will go into apoptosis.
