PRAGMATIC AND COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE
Concept
Pragmatic is study of meaning or recognizing speaker meaning. pragmatic use to explain the meaning that communicated by speaker or writer and being interpreted by listener or reader.
communicative competence
grammatical competence
speakers know the rules of the language which include vocabulary, word and sentence formation, pronunciation, spelling and linguistic semantics.
sociolinguistic competence
the speaker is able to produce and understand utterances in different contexts.
discourse competence
language appropriateness with reference to a given situation.
strategic competence
when the speaker wants to enhance the effect of communication or some other problems like sociolinguistic or discourse ones happen.
